  I reserved a car from Avis on May 16th for the memorial day weekend for $181. The email we received states that the car will be available for pick up after 1pm, but the store closes at 2pm. Unfortunately, the flight was delayed and we arrived at Avis at 2:15pm and the doors were locked.
  
  Understandable, but it is odd for car rental places to close at 2pm. So we called Avis about our situation, and was told that since we missed pick up at this location, that we can go pick it up at SFO... For $800. Alternatively, we could also wait and pick it up tomorrow for $400. So this is where it doesn't make sense to me - not only am I losing a day in my booking for the rental, but my price also doubled.
  
  Needless to say, I did not go with this company. I ended up going to Alamo and getting a full upgrade with a minivan for $225, which Avis would have charged over $1k for this weekend.
